Debate em torno do nazismo divide historiadores

"Poderíamos dizer que uma explicação intelectualmente satisfatória do nazismo é impossível", previne Ian Kershaw. "O fenômeno parece ultrapassar qualquer análise racional." Mais de 120 mil obras já foram escritas sobre Hitler.
Que lugar e que importância devemos atribuir a ele no interior do sistema nazista, no governo do Terceiro Reich, na elaboração da política contra os judeus e da política externa? Sobre essa questão, os historiadores se dividem entre "intencionalistas" e "funcionalistas".
Os intencionalistas dominaram as pesquisas no pós-guerra (principalmente com historiadores alemães como Friedrich Melnecke e Gerhard A. Ritter). Seus trabalhos são centrados na personalidade "demente" do Führer, seu poder ditatorial e seu antissemitismo.
Eles querem mostrar que a solução final é o resultado de um plano refletido e amadurecido que Hitler elaborou nos anos 1920 e formulou em "Minha Luta".
Outra forma de intencionalismo consiste em ampliar a intenção (do genocídio judaico) para o conjunto da população alemã.
Em 1996 o historiador americano Daniel J. Goldhagen publicou um livro que teve grande repercussão na Alemanha.
Ele declarou que havia um antissemitismo especialmente violento e profundamente enraizado entre os alemães, de modo que todos eles teriam sido cúmplices do Holocausto.
Desde os anos de 1970, porém, são as teses funcionalistas que vêm predominando na análise do nazismo, com, por exemplo, o historiador alemão Martin Broszet ou o inglês Ian Kershaw. Mais do que a vontade do ditador, eles destacam os fatores estruturais: as engrenagens e a lógica de um sistema que foi se radicalizando progressivamente.
Esse debate entre historiadores se deslocou e repercutiu de maneira passional com a "querela dos historiadores alemães", que inflamou a opinião pública e a mídia alemã ocidental no final dos anos 1980.
Em um artigo na revista "Die Zeit", o filósofo Jürgen Habermas protestou contra as teses "revisionistas" de certos historiadores (entre os quais Ernst Nolte), a quem acusou de querer relativizar o nazismo e a singularidade do Holocausto.
Às questões ética e histórica em jogo se somava um problema político: tratava-se de barrar o avanço da extrema direita alemã renascente. Os ataques disparados por vários historiadores contra os revisionistas atingiram seu alvo plenamente na Alemanha.

Lista de Schindler é encontrada na Austrália

A lista preparada pelo industrial alemão Oskar Schindler, que ajudou a salvar mais de mil judeus dos campos de concentração na Segunda Guerra, foi encontrada em uma biblioteca de Sydney, na Austrália, que não sabia que estava de posse do documento.
A lista foi encontrada em meio a notas de pesquisa e recortes de jornais alemães usados pelo escritor australiano Thomas Keneally, autor do livro A arca de Schindler, em que se baseou o filme A lista de Schindler, de Steven Spielberg.
A biblioteca obteve a lista quando comprou o material de pesquisa de Keneally em 1996.A lista contém 13 páginas amareladas, onde estão escritos os nomes e nacionalidades de 801 judeus e foi descrita como um dos documentos mais poderosos do século 20.
"Ela salvou 801 vidas das câmaras de gás... é uma peça histórica incrivelmente tocante", disse a co-curadora da biblioteca Olwen Pryke.Segundo Pryke, nem a biblioteca nem o livreiro, de quem comprou o material, se deram conta de que a lista estava entre os documentos.
A lista foi datilografada apressadamente em 18 de abril de 1945, ao fim da Segunda Guerra, e compilada por Oskar Schindler.Durante a Segunda Guerra, Schindler dirigiu uma fábrica na Cracóvia, Polônia, onde usou mão de obra judia.
Horrorizado com a conduta dos nazistas ele conseguiu convencer oficiais de que seus funcionários eram essenciais para os esforços de guerra e não deviam ser enviados a campos de concentração.
A lista foi entregue ao escritor australiano Thomas Keneally em uma loja em Los Angeles, quase 30 anos, atrás por uma das pessoas que Schindler ajudou a escapar, Leopold Pfefferberg.
Pfefferberg queria que o escritor contasse a história da lista.

Ex-oficial alemão é julgado pela morte de 14 italianos em Munique
da Folha Online Ocorre nesta segunda-feira, em Munique (Alemanha), o julgamento do ex-oficial alemão Josef Scheungraber, 90, acusado de ter encomendado a morte de 14 italianos, em 1944, na Segunda Guerra. Os assassinatos teriam sido uma retaliação a um ataque dos italianos que teria matado dois soldados alemães.
Na chegada ao tribunal, o ex-oficial se recusou a falar com os jornalistas. Ele nega o crime.
De acordo com o processo, militares alemães mataram a tiros uma mulher e quatro homens. Em seguida, obrigaram 11 outras pessoas a entrar no porão de uma casa e o explodiram. A ação teria sido liderada pelo ex-oficial, então com 25 anos. Um sobrevivente da explosão --na época, um adolescente de 15 anos-- deverá testemunhar.
Conforme o procurador Anton Winkler, o julgamento deverá terminar apenas em outubro próximo. "Esse julgamento não será fácil e coletar provas será trabalhoso." O procurador afirmou que Scheungraber foi condenado à revelia à prisão perpétua pelo crime em 2006, em um julgamento realizado por um tribunal militar italiano.
Conforme o procurador Anton Winkler, o julgamento deverá terminar apenas em outubro próximo. "Esse julgamento não será fácil e coletar provas será trabalhoso." O procurador afirmou que Scheungraber foi condenado à revelia à prisão perpétua pelo crime em 2006, em um julgamento realizado por um tribunal militar italiano.
"O réu é muito idoso e sofre de problemas de saúde. Nós talvez tenhamos que adiar alguns procedimentos e ter intervalos para que ele se recupere", afirmou o procurador.
No início do júri, o advogado de defesa, Christian Stuenkel, reiterou que o ex-oficial nega seu envolvimento no caso. De acordo com o advogado, no momento do massacre, Scheungraber fiscalizava o conserto de uma ponte. O advogado ressaltou que a acusação não possui uma testemunha que tenha visto Scheungraber no local do crime nem uma prova documental de que ele tenha encomendado o ataque.
Desde a condenação, em 2006, Scheungraber mora na cidade de Ottobrunn, perto de Munique. Ele trabalha no conselho municipal e tem uma loja de móveis.

Museu Histórico de Berlim revive a história do genocídio dos judeus.
Mais de mil objetos ajudam a reconstituir o plano dos nazistas para exterminar seis milhões de pessoas.
Em memória aos 60 anos da Conferência de Wannsee, o Museu Histórico de Berlim está promovendo a mais completa exposição já realizada sobre o Holocausto. A mostra aborda a questão do extermínio dos judeus e sua repercussão na Alemanha do pós-guerra. "Holocausto — O genocídio pelos nazistas e o motivo de sua lembrança" está aberta ao público a partir desta quinta-feira (17).
A Conferência de Wannsee entrou para a História como o registro do exato momento em que os representantes do regime nazista discutiram o modo operacional de implantação do plano de extermínio dos judeus. No dia 20 de janeiro de 1942, os dirigentes nazistas reuniram-se em uma casa no sudoeste de Berlim para selar o destino de milhões de pessoas. Durante o encontro, planejou-se a "solução final do problema dos judeus" na Europa, determinando o seu total extermínio.
Para ilustrar e descrever o ambiente de tramitação da "solução final" estarão expostos 1200 objetos, entre cartazes, fotos, jornais, cartas, filmes, gravações, livros, roupas e utensílios pessoais dos nazistas. Cerca de 120 organizações nacionais e internacionais contribuíram para a exposição, entre elas o Museu de Auschwitz-Birkenau, da Polônia, e o Museu Memorial ao Holocausto, dos Estados Unidos.
A exposição foi dividida cronologicamente, iniciando com os temas: anti-semitismo após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, discriminação e expulsão dos judeus depois que Hitler assumiu o poder (1933) e a investida alemã na Polônia (1939). A segunda parte aborda os assuntos relacionados à discussão acerca do Holocausto na Alemanha do pós-guerra, tanto na parte ocidental do país como na Alemanha comunista.
